Housing in Canberra

Canberra is a quiet city, suitable for students who  would like to focus on their studies. however, as a muslim not only are we obligated to increase our knowledge, but to remember Allah (SWT) when doing so. Therefore, it is important to balance our spiritual, intellectual life and well-being. The first step in achieving this is to search for accommodation. There is a particular Muslim accommodation in Canberra however we do suggest searching for accommodation both on campus and off campus to find what suits you best. There are many accommodations offered by A&U which you can find here (https://www.anu.edu.au/study/accommodation). However these offers are very competitive, therefore you should try to apply as early as you can. if you perfect level of campus we suggest that you researched various websites and group pages for example:

  1. Facebook group “native country group” for example Indonesia students = Bursa Canberra”, or “Canberra share housing”,
  2. Flate mate

Suppose that you have no on-campus offer, or you do not find any accommodation near campus, then don't worry because distance does not matter as much in Canberra. As long as your accommodation is near a bus station you can commute to campus in short period of time. The Canberra bus schedule is very reliable and reachable, and it only takes several minutes because it has a rapid bus line. If you are already in Canberra make sure you purchase a myway card (at airport, or Supa) to access all public transportation. You can also use your CoE to get a student discount when purchasing your myway card. If you are in a rush or emergency, the Uber application will also help you even if it is a little bit costly.
